I am Dr. Sainath Bhethanabhotla, a senior consultant and head of the Department of Medical Oncology at Star Hospitals in Nanakramguda. I hold an MBBS, an MD from AIIMS, and a DM in Medical Oncology from AIIMS. Throughout my career, I have achieved several academic honors, including the Sorel Catherine Prize for Best Postgraduate in Pediatrics in 2012 and second place in the NNF Gold Medal Paper for the same year. I received a scholarship for my oral presentation on pediatric Hodgkin Lymphoma at SIOP 2015 in Cape Town, South Africa, and was awarded the “Abstract Achievement Award” at the American Society of Hematology Meeting on Hematological Malignancies in Chicago in September 2016. I have published 20 research articles in highly reputed international journals with high impact factors, reflecting my commitment to advancing medical knowledge in oncology.

With 10 years of work experience, I have also contributed to the field through organizational efforts as a founding member of the Sankalp Hematology and Oncology Group and the Science and Cost Cancer Consortium, which focuses on providing scientific evidence for effective low-cost cancer therapies. Additionally, I serve as the lead oncologist for Spatial Karma Solutions Pvt Ltd, a startup health company that collaborates with various government organizations to improve healthcare access in remote areas.

During my tenure at MNJ Institute of Oncology and Regional Cancer Centre, I worked in a 90-bedded pediatric oncology ward, where I updated treatment protocols according to the latest guidelines and trained nursing staff and residents in administering high-dose methotrexate, a challenging drug to manage in resource-limited settings. I was also involved in initiating a pediatric intensive care unit for children with cancer.

I have received several awards, including the “Human Touch Award” presented by former Chief Justice Hon. N. Ramana on August 26, 2023, recognition as one of the best medical oncologists in Hyderabad by Outlook magazine for 2024, and the Luminary Healthcare Award 2024 for being one of the best medical oncologists.
